Finning (UK) has secured a contract to supply four Caterpillar forklifts to Hyundai Heavy Industries' operation on the Maersk XL1 and XL2 oil-drilling platforms off the coast of Norway.
Two Cat EP30K four-wheel electric forklifts and two Cat DP30K diesel forklifts were ordered. The DP30K forklifts have been modified by Pyroban to work in zone two hazardous areas and to meet European Union laws, according to a Petroleum Review report.
The forklifts were fitted with Pyroban's new System 5000D, which uses active gas detection for diesel engine safety, supported by mechanical protection measures, such as temperature limitation.
