 FLTA award winners |
The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) put the spotlight on the "best of the best" in materials handling at its annual awards for excellence ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole this month.
This year's awards were different because there were two winners of the Apprentice of the Year award - Ben Duff of Jungheinrich and Joseph Turner of Toyota. The Employee of the Year award went to Ian Stone of Windsor Engineering in Hull and in a new category, Sellafield Ltd won the Safe Site award.
Two tyre manufacturers were among the most warmly applauded - Watts Industrial Tyre Services took the Supplier of the Year award while Continental Tyre Group received a Design Achievement award for its CSEasy tyre which can be fitted using a simple torque wrench.
The four awards decided by an open vote in the materials handling community were won by Still (environment), Crown (ergonomics), Doosan (safety) and Komatsu (innovation).
FLTA chief executive David Ellison says the association hopes the awards will encourage the industry to continually improve its standards.
