Expo-Logistica, a combined showcase of the materials handling and logistics industries, was held in Mexico City's new Hipodromo de Las Americas exhibition hall last week.
The recently inaugurated hall was a perfect venue for the show, which covered more than 20 square kilometres (12.5 square miles). Attendance was good, despite pouring rain, which kept many potential visitors away. Intrupa and Impco also hosted a cocktail party for OEM forklift representatives.
Forklift brands represented at the show, in alphabetical order, were Blue Giant, Caterpillar, Clark, Crown, Hyster, Komatsu, Mitsubishi, Moffett, Nissan, Raymond, Still, Toyota and Yale. Daewoo and TCM were notable exceptions.
Other show features included racks, pallets, dock levellers, cranes, hoists and conveyors, but the tyre and battery segments were not represented.
Expo-Logistica 2004 is proposed for another new facility, "Sta Fe", but that is still to be determined.
