Konecranes has received an order for 39 reachstackers |
Konecranes recently won its largest-ever reachstacker contract, from a customer in Germany. The order for 39 reachstackers was won with Konecranes' distributor Richter Fördertechnik.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q3 2020 and run until Q1 2021.
The contract is for the delivery of 39 Konecranes SMV 2216 TC3 reachstackers with modifications to allow for the stacking of 22 T, 16 T and 6 T containers.
"This was a long-negotiated contract that involved many people across the organisation, and we are pleased with the result and grateful for the work done with our partner, Richter Fördertechnik GmbH & Co. KG," says Ralf Gowin, sales manager - Germany for Konecranes Lift Trucks.
"Germany is a very important market for us, and this particular order shows great trust in our service support," adds Patrik Starck, regional sales director - Europe at Konecranes Lift Trucks. "The cooperation with Richter was key to the awarding of this contract."
News of the order comes as Konecranes has concluded cooperation negotiations with Finnish works council representatives regarding temporary layoffs covering the company's 2,000 employees in the country.
Temporary layoffs will be carried out based on the needs of the various business units or functions in the country, with measures to also include options such as shortened work weeks.
As
reported last week, the period of the temporary layoffs will be up to 90 days at most during 2020. In addition to Finland, Konecranes has already been active in reducing costs across the full scope of the company's global operations.
