One of Scotland's leading access equipment hire firms has invested in a fleet of 50 JCB Access electric scissor lifts.
The scissor lifts have been purchased by Active Access - part of the ZL Group of companies - which is based in Bellshill, near Glasgow. The order includes eight out of the nine models introduced by JCB Access in its initial electric scissor lift range, which spans from 15 ft. (4.6 m) to 45 ft. (13.8 m).
Supplied by dealer Stewart Plant Sales, the scissor lifts have operating weights of between 2,930 and 7,420 lb. (1,330 kg-3,366 kg). The two smallest models (S1530e and S1930e) offer platforms measuring 5.3 ft. (1.64 m) long by 2.5 ft. (0.76 m) wide, while the majority of larger models use an 8 ft. (2.5 m) platform. The largest model (S4550E) has an 8.75 ft. (2.64 m) long working area. The machines are rated for basket capacities from 500 lb. (227 kg) to a maximum of 1,212 lb. (550 kg) and the electric scissors are powered by four 6V or 12V batteries, with hydraulic drive.
Active Access managing director Seref Zengin says: "As an existing Scot JCB customer, purchasing JCB Loadalls, we know the first-class product support and back-up it provides and our customers have faith in the quality of the equipment and recognition of the strong brand. The breadth of the range from 15-45 ft. also suits our market well.
"We've already hired out the scissors across a range of factory construction and building maintenance projects. They are proving easy to operate and maintain while the impressive wind ratings are a major advantage too.
"Our customers are finding that the strength and stability is much greater when compared with competitive equipment and they are already requesting to rehire the JCB scissor lifts over other manufacturers' equipment."
Founded in 2003, Active Access Limited has grown to operate a fleet of 330 booms and scissor lifts supplied to customers across the UK.
