Dato Sasedharan Vasudevan, Penang Port chief executive officer, says: “This investment underscores our dedication to staying at the forefront of the industry and delivering efficient, reliable port services”.
“The acquisition of the Kalmar container handlers is expected to streamline internal processes and significantly improve efficiency and enhance our port operations competitiveness.”

Gqeberha, South Africa
The Ngqura Container Terminal (NCT) has taken delivery of 50 new haulers to increase citrus loading rates as mid-season approaches.
The Transnet Port Terminal (TPT) says NCT is its fourth terminal to receive new equipment in the last five months.
TPT managing executive in the Eastern Cape, Wandisa Vazi says: “It feels good to give a performing team additional resources because we can then uphold what we have promised our customers.
“The arrival of these haulers will make it possible for us to achieve current financial year targets.”
Vazi says since the beginning of the citrus season, NCT has maintained good performance as cited in a recent industry meeting where the Citrus Growers Association commended the terminal and depot set up, describing it as the best in the country.
The other TPT terminals to receive equipment in recent months are:
- the Richards Bay Terminals, which took delivery of 75 dumpers and 35 payloaders in March;
- the Durban Container Terminals, which took delivery of 35 haulers in March; and
- the Cape Town Container Terminal, which took delivery of 10 haulers in June.
