The world's largest industrial reach stacker will break the record set last September after Kalmar received an order for two Super Gloria reach stackers from Tadarsa Logistics SL in Avilés, Spain.

The largest reach stacker ever built, the Kalmar Gloria DRG1300-92ZX can lift up to 130 T and will be used specifically to lift heavy wind turbine sections which can weigh up to 260 T.

Kalmar spokeswoman Maija Eklöf tells Forkliftaction.com News: "There are many types of tower sections. These can (have the) same weight in both ends or ... different weights in the ends. The individual maximum weight in each end is 130 T and the maximum total weight is 260 T, when the load is evenly distributed in both ends."

Eklöf adds that the manufacturer has other projects in the pipeline for the Super Gloria reach stackers for different applications.

The value of the order is confidential and delivery is scheduled for November 2015.

Last year, the DRG1000-92 ZXS reach stacker in Kalmar's Gloria range achieved a world record after lifting a steel component weighing 103 T in front of an invited audience on 12 September in Sweden (Forkliftaction.com News #685).

Sales and marketing director Stefan Johansson says the latest order presented a technical challenge for Kalmar.

"It is testament to Kalmar's engineers that every time we set a record like this, we reinforce our position as the market leader.

"It was also a pleasure working with Tadarsa Logistics, a large international company that is so highly respected in its sector. They needed a reach stacker to handle a critical application and this called for the development of the biggest machine ever built."

Tadarsa, which already has four Kalmar DRF450 reach stackers operating in Spain and two Kalmar DRF450 reach stackers operating in Brazil, has over 50 years of experience in the manufacturing of pressure vessels and large metal structures. It operates from 20,000 sqm (215,278 sqft.) of manufacturing area, less than 1 km (0.6 mi.) from Avilés port in northern Spain.
