UK plant hire specialist One Call Hire has bought 90 JCB Loadall telescopic handlers in a deal worth GBP5 million (USD8 million).

The order includes JCB 535-95, 540-140 and 540-170 models, which join 90 existing JCB telehandlers in the company's fleet.

One Call Hire commercial and sales director Tom Gleeson says: "We chose JCB for this major telehandler investment due to the reliability of the products, the excellent relationship with our dealer Greenshields JCB and the value of the JCB brand among our customer base."

Gleeson adds that the company also recognised the importance of sustainability and the environment as fuel and emissions reductions are of huge significance on key inner city sites. "Equally crucial are the cost savings we can provide for our customers by running fuel-efficient equipment. With the Ecomax engine, JCB Loadall telescopic handlers are excellent on fuel consumption. Each machine can save our customers as much GBP450 (USD720) a year in fuel, which is a reduction of 1,668 kg of CO2 Gas."

Over a year, this equates to a reduction of 112,000 kg of CO2 or nearly GBP30,000 (USD48,000) across the new additions to the fleet.

"Many of the JCB machines are working on the Crossrail Network, which remains a major project for us. Our supply of machines here continues to be strong and with all our new machines being Crossrail compliant, we are ready for any further demand," Gleeson explains.

Developed to meet the EU Stage IIIB/US Tier 4 interim emissions standards, the JCB Ecomax engines incorporated across the One Call Hire models produce between 6-15% more torque and 5-10% more power at low revs than the previous Tier 3 engine.

With over 40 years' industry experience and access to 23 nationwide depots, One Call Hire offers over 3,000 machines, including 0.9 to 50 T excavators, self-propelled rollers, dozers, heavy-lift telehandlers and dumpers. The company has committed GBP25.25 million (USD40.4 million) to new plant and machinery to date for the 2014 period. This equates to a total spend of over GBP60 million (USD96 million) over the last two years.

One Call Hire currently provides equipment to areas in London including Stratford, Hackney, Westminster and Lewisham and supports contractors on major projects including Crossrail where most of the new JCB models will be deployed.
