Crane engineering services firm Liftech Consultants will open Liftech Shanghai Co Ltd in Shanghai, China in December.
Alex Huang, who has 10 years' experience designing container cranes with Kalmar and ZPMC, will manage the Shanghai office. The new Chinese office will allow Liftech to offer clients a broader range of services and to improve the communication and workflow with crane manufacturers and clients based in Asia.
"We are excited about expanding our presence in China and having Alex join our team," says Liftech vice president Jonathan Hsieh.
Huang is a graduate of the Wuhan University of Science & Technology and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is an expert in the structural and mechanical design of container cranes and has experience managing container crane projects in the UK and USA. He was the crane supplier's lead engineer for the dual trolley cranes at the APL Los Angeles terminal and Long Beach Container Terminal's automated facility.
The company's headquarters will remain in Oakland, California where it has been for 50 years.
