A conference session titled 'Container Financing: options and views from a financier', will be held during Intermodal Asia 2014 at the Shanghai World Expo Centre from 1-3 April.
Charles-Hadrien Lassalle, associate director, intermodal finance at ABN AMRO Bank NV Singapore, will present the conference session on day three in the Strategy Theatre.
The session will focus on the current economic situation within the shipping container market and its effects on the financing options for lessors and liners.
"On the back of the recent surge in the liquidity available to the container box leasing industry, the access to cheaper capital has created a more competitive landscape," says Lassalle. "We are now at a point where the overflow of liquidity exacerbates competition among lessors but also impacts the way the various players fund themselves."
Lassalle will present the different container financing options available in today's finance environment to lessors and logistics service providers.
"I expect clients and prospects from the leasing and liner world, but also a number of people from the Asian market who may not yet be familiar with our products and capabilities, to attend this conference session," Lassalle says.
A full program of conference sessions is planned for the three-day event. Sessions will be held in both English and Mandarin and will take place in the Strategy Theatre and the Innovation Theatre.
Intermodal Asia 2014 is organised by Informa Exhibitions (the Intermodal Europe organiser) in joint partnership with the China Container Industry Association (CCIA) and is also supported by the China International Marine Containers (Group) Co Ltd, which is the world's largest container manufacturer and is also the current chair of the CCIA.
Additional conference topics will include a container forum, sessions on environmental issues and a container handling technology forum. There will also be sessions looking at port issues for intermodal transport and an intermodal rail freight forum.
