The founder of rough-terrain forklift manufacturer AUSA has passed away at the age of 89.

Maurici Perramon Font was born in Manresa, Spain, on 24 December 1923, the son of Maurici Perramon i Casasayas, an entrepreneur who established a ribbon factory where high quality ribbons were produced using advanced technology.

He was close to his six brothers as his mother, Llúcia, and his father instilled in him the importance of the family ties.

In 1949, Perramon became the technical manager of Perramon & Badia. Seeking a powerful motor to provide energy during periods of power restrictions, he contacted the Tachó family. This professional and personal relationship resulted in the birth of AUSA.

He married Carmen Ferran Saladrigas in 1952, and had five sons and four daughters.

In 1956, Perramon and the Tachó brothers founded AUSA. He was the general manager and his father was the board chairman. In 1966, Maurici left the management of Perramon & Badia to devote himself to the management of AUSA.

The Generalitat de Catalunya granted him the President Macià medal in 1994. Perramon also received a special mention for his innovative efforts at Saló de l'Automòbil de Barcelona in 2004. He was also honoured by the construction machinery sector at Smopyc Exhibition 2006 in Zaragoza.

Perramon became honorary chairman and advisor of the AUSA board of directors in 2010.

Maurici Perramon had strong entrepreneurial skills. He was passionate about promoting hard work, training and teamwork with the aim of improving the quality of life for people.

His friends and family say they will remember him as a very sincere person with high ethical standards. His life was not showy. He valued the simple things in life and was generous to others. He valued spending time with his family. Some of his sons work at AUSA. He had 18 grandchildren.
