Olaf Gelhausen has joined APM Terminals as chief operating officer.
Formerly an executive at automotive supplier Brose, Gelhausen will be responsible for global operations, asset management, automation, project execution, asset design, engineering, decarbonisation and procurement at APM Terminals.
Prior to his tenure at Brose, Gelhausen was chief operating officer at Thyssenkrupp Bilstein. Under his leadership a new digitisation and automation strategy was implemented, introducing machine learning applications, collaborative robots, big data analysis and additive manufacturing.
He also served as general manager for Hella in China.
“With his experience from both industrial and technology industries, he is the perfect fit to take APM Terminals to the next step in our goal to be the World’s best terminal company,” says Keith Svendsen, chief executive officer of APM Terminals.
Born and raised in Berlin, Gelhausen has a Ph.D in physics from University of Technology Sydney, as well as Master’s degrees in both physics and business in Germany.
Will Fan

Hai Robotics has appointed Will Fan as its new general manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Fan will be responsible for managing, directing and expanding Hai's operations in the region.
He brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the local logistics market, as well as a proven track record of sales and business development within the business-to-business sector.
Fan was previously Hai Robotics ANZ regional sales director. He was also a Singapore-based sales director for the company for three years.
"We officially entered the ANZ market two years ago and have witnessed tremendous growth throughout," says Fan.
"With supply chain and logistics playing a crucial role in the ANZ economy, I look forward to introducing them to Hai's innovative solutions and building our presence as the key player in the local market."
