Warehouse/supply chain activityConstruction of distribution centres and warehouses is picking up in the United States, with a new report detailing 166 new projects - a 10% increase in new construction projects reported from the previous month.
The February 2023 summary from IMI SalesLeads notes that Texas is leading the way with 16 projects, including the largest of the current crop – a USD1 billion Graphic Packaging International facility in Waco, TX. Construction is expected to start in the next few months, with completion slated for 2026.
According to the report, there are 11 new projects in Wisconsin, nine each in California and Ohio and eight in Iowa.
The new projects include 153 industrial warehouses.
Of the current listings, 95 are new projects and 35 are expansions, while a further 35 renovations or equipment upgrades are under way.
Significant projects in the latest tally include a USD400 million studio and warehouse complex in Brooklyn, New York; a USD50 million renovation and equipment upgrade of a home appliance manufacturer’s distribution centre in Greenville, South Carolina; and a USD33 million warehouse complex in Acadia, Maine.
