The unique and innovative Mobicon container handler recently set sail for the United States, South Africa and Europe after celebrating their 50th machine manufactured. Inventor and Managing Director of Mobicon, Mr Tom Schults announced today that the container handler will be distributed in three new countries as a confirmation of the success the solution had attained in Australia and New Zealand.

"I recall a few years ago that I said..once we had sold 50 Mobicon's in the domestic market that we could look at expanding into the exporting scene. With strategic pre-planning we have doubled our manufacturing capacity, expanded our Zillmere assembly facility and are now ready to export," Mr Schults said.

"Mobicon is an Australian manufactured container handler and we continue to assemble the machines in Queensland which is something that I am extremely proud of. I have always wanted to maintain the Mobicon brand as an Australian innovation and so far we have achieved this."

The recent expansion into the United States, Europe and South Africa has assured Mobicon of a long-term goal of success and according to Mr Schults '100 may not be that far away."

"It's funny because I started this company after I had drunk too much coffee, couldn't sleep and spent the night designing the first Mobicon. I would never have imagined that eight years on my invention would become a significant niche product in the container handling market,"

The Mobicon has the lightest axle loading of any container handler in the world and is uniquely positioned in the market because of its innovative design which includes the ability to manage any sized ISO container with one machine and has a 33 tonne handling capacity.

The Mobicon client portfolio is a who's-who in the transport, materials handling and distribution industries and includes key players like Toll Holdings, Australian Customs, Sadleirs Transport, Booth Transport, Patrick, K&S Freighters, General Motors, Kagan, Smorgon, Laminex and Simon National Carriers.

"The best thing about the Mobicon is that is ideally suited for ALL sized companies and even smaller players that handle a minimum of 5 containers a week will reap the cost effectiveness of this machine. Mobicon clients also includes smaller food, beverage and manufacturing companies and many of the Mobicon's are used in smaller yards and operations,"

"Many of our clients have recognised the significant cost savings in utilising a Mobicon within their operations and are now ordering additional machines for other Branches." Mr Schults said.

Australian Customs
* Australian Customs Service now have five Mobicon container handling systems for their world-leading container examination facilities across the country.
Kagan Bros. Consolidated
* For Melbourne division of Kagan Bros. Consolidated the Mobicon places containers right where they are needed, adjacent to the stock or storage area, effectively separating the unloading or loading activities, reducing congestion and making the workplace significantly safer.
Toll SPD
* Toll SPD acquired a Mobicon as it was the only container handler available on the market that had both the flexibility to handle all sized containers, including the 48' curtain-siders, and is designed with ideal wheel loadings suitable for the Brisbane yard.
Sadleirs Transport
* At their previous site Sadleirs Transport were only capable of unloading 2 containers on 2 trailers at any one time. They can now unload 4 to 5 containers at the same time which spreads their labour and increases their productivity.
Smorgon Steel Reinforcing
* To Smorgon the Mobicon mean that their loading has become safer - instead of staff working at a trailer height of 1.5 metres, they are now working at a safe 300 mm off the ground. This alone is a major contributing factor for the implementation of the Mobicon into the Steel Reinforcing business.
