There are some home truths about forklift safety in Danny Maron's Safety First column this week. Most importantly, safety training is not just academic. Everyone needs to remember that there are lives at stake - and while forklifts can cause damage that's disruptive, they can also kill and maim. We often overlook the risks and many organisations see training as a burden. They probably just have to speak to management at a site which has had a forklift-related fatality to realise the real value of thorough training and a stringent safety regime. So let's be safe out there.
