When dealers sever ties with distributors, there's usually some acrimony and tension. So it's refreshing to learn this week about KMH Systems' positive break-up with Nacco. KMH has given up its remaining Yale dealerships, replacing them with Nissan, TCM and Clark brands. It's part of Nacco's consolidation of its Yale and Hyster operations and its attempts to get the two brands under a single structure. That, of course, means rationalising the two brands' dealerships. What is most impressive, however, is the positive spin that both sides are putting on the Yale switch - something that contrasts sharply with some of the bitter brand switches we have reported recently and others which have actually gone to court.
