We're hearing more about used equipment, with major manufacturers - especially in Europe - expanding their refurbishment operations.
Of course, this makes sense at a time of supply constraints, when many suppliers are struggling to meet demand for new equipment.
Refurbishment is also environmentally sound, with the lifespan of existing equipment extended rather than expending resources on replacement machines.
And it adds up for end-users who can make significant cost savings by buying used equipment. This is even more practical for low-use environments where the machines won't have to work too hard or too long.
But when one buys used, it does sometimes mean missing out on the latest features and, particularly, on the increased energy efficiency and improved emissions which come with each new generation.
Like everything, what works for one fleet may not cut it elsewhere. But don't dismiss second-hand without due consideration.
