This week's edition could well be called CraneAction News because of the dominance of that sector in the coverage. We report on a couple of big orders, a major service contract, an acquisition in the industry and a spectacular accident.
And, in fact, there were other crane developments which are not covered this week, but would otherwise have made the headlines.
Why does a newsletter with "forklift" in its name cover cranes? Firstly, because we're a materials handling information source. Secondly, cranes are not only an important materials handling market in their own right, but also a barometer of trade and industry activity - activity which involves many other pieces of equipment, from container handlers for moving cargo to forklifts for unpacking and distributing it.
There are many other reasons why cranes cannot be separated from materials handling and logistics, but, in general, the more cranes that are delivered, the more opportunities for the rest of the supply chain.
So, let's keep craning!
