Fresh fruit and vegetable supplier Greencell has upgraded its Spalding distribution centre's materials handling equipment fleet with Jungheinrich counterbalanced forklifts and pallet trucks.

The six EFG 2 Series counterbalanced machines and three ERE 120 stand-on powered pallet trucks will unload incoming containers and trailers, and deliver stock to cold warehouses where they are stored at temperatures of 1-5 degrees Celcius, before picking, packing and delivery to retail outlets.

According to Greencell, a key driver behind its choice of Jungheinrich as its forklift supplier is the EFG 2 Series' consistently low battery consumption. The counterbalanced trucks, which have fourth generation AC technology, operate for two shifts without needing a battery change.

There are fewer parts subjected to wear because all drive, lifting and steering motors use AC technology, making the EFG forklifts service friendly with less downtime and lower running costs. All the motors and electronics are enclosed, and all electronic connectors are sealed, ensuring the trucks' suitability for indoor and outdoor use.

Operator comfort is also an important consideration for Greencell. The EFG trucks have power steering and a "floating cab" design that minimises vibration.

Greencell's warehouse operations are managed from the Spalding facility. Itcomprises conventional and organic warehouses, plus a 1,000 pallet-capacity cold warehouse.

The contract's value is confidential.

Words of support …

I know I can count on them. They give valuable suggestions on the campaign planning, and to publish content is as easy as abc, as they take care of the material layout and check links. This is a great support.
