 FIT's UK footprint |
Industrial tyre specialist First Industrial Tyres (FIT) has opened a depot in the north east of England.
Situated on the Crowther Industrial Estate in Washington, this is the 10th depot for FIT which specialises in the forklift trade and services a number of warehousing fleets across the UK, and the second depot in the north of the country after Hull.
The depot is run by John Collinson and Karl Brown who joined from Watts Tyres and Interfit. They offer a combined 42 years' experience in the tyre-fitting industry.
Two mobile presses and one static press are on hand at the Washington depot to support servicing the fleets the company manages in the north. The mobile presses ensure that FIT can get on site to service vehicles as quickly as required to minimise downtime.
"It's good news for FIT that we are in a position to open this depot," explains Eddy Woolley from FIT. "It's an important strategic move for expansion of the company in the UK as it helps us to be more responsive to our clients' needs and enables us to offer an even better service to our clients in the north."
The opening comes hot on the heels of a new warehouse for FIT in Eye. This relocation allows FIT to hold more stock and be closer to the point of import to aid logistics of new product deliveries.
FIT was founded in 2010 by Woolley, formerly of Mobile Industrial Tyres Ltd and managing director of Watts Industrial Tyre Services Ltd.
