Maher Terminals LLC chose Konecranes diesel electric straddle carriers to replace ageing equipment in its US terminal. |
Konecranes has received its first straddle carrier order from Maher Terminals LLC, one of the world's largest container terminal operators.
In May, Maher ordered six straddle carriers, which will be delivered to its terminal in the Port of New York/New Jersey in November. Both parties have agreed to keep the order value confidential.
Maher Terminals has developed the largest marine container terminal in the Port of New York and New Jersey. The container terminal operation is strategically located in the heart of one of the world's most affluent consumer markets. Maher currently operates a fleet of over 160 straddle carriers.
"We are very pleased that Maher chose Konecranes' diesel electric straddle carriers to replace ageing equipment in its terminal," says Jost Dämmgen, sales manager, port cranes, Konecranes. "The ... Konecranes straddle carrier combined with service, spare parts and a training package will surely help our customer reach a higher level of quality and services."
The straddle carriers are equipped with Konecranes electrical drives and power train components. They have a 40 T hoisting capacity in single container operations and 50 T in twin container operations, lifting one-over-two containers high.
