Enersys, a supplier of stored energy solutions for industrial applications, has expanded and re-opened its advanced manufacturing facility in Sumter, South Carolina.

According to the company, the expanded facility, which was completed at a cost of USD6.7 million, strengthens its capacity to meet rising demand for advanced battery technologies.

These include maintenance-free lithium-ion and Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) solutions, as well as flooded lead-acid batteries, a proven and widely used technology for industrial and backup power applications.

“Today’s expansion is not just about bricks and mortar. It’s about investing in opportunity, innovation, and the future of American manufacturing,” says Troy Baxter, vice president of global operations for motive power at Enersys.

According to Enersys, the 34,000-sq.ft. (3,159 sqm) expansion will help to reinforce the resilience of its domestic supply amid evolving global market conditions. The products manufactured at the Sumter facility will find use in various sectors, including transportation, energy, industrial operations, telecommunications, and defence.
