Snorkel booms were used extensively during construction of CSL facility. |
The CSL Group of Companies has invested about CAD5.9 million (USD5.8 million) in constructing larger quarters in Edmonton, the provincial capital of Alberta.
The business's CanSource Lifts segment represents the Snorkel, UpRight, Skyjack, JLG, Terex and Genie brands of aerial lifts and work platforms, Genie and JLG forward-reach forklifts and Doosan warehouse forklifts.
CSL moved about 5 km (3.1 mi.) south-west of its previous Edmonton site to a location with high visibility on the Yellowhead Highway. The major east-west thoroughfare connects Canada's four western provinces. The move took place on 20 July.
"Our new shop compound, including office area, is now 23,750 sqft. (2,206 sqm), in comparison to our old shop of 9,600 sqft. (892 sqm)," says Kayla Dakin. Snorkel boom lifts played a significant role in the early stages of the construction, particularly in the steel frame erection.
In addition to CanSource Lifts, other business segments are CSL Transportation Service and CSL Safety Training. With newly available space, the group plans in late 2012 to establish a CSL Storage business to support the seasonal storage needs of contractors.
Family-owned CSL was founded in 1997 and has 39 employees, including 10 technicians.
Bert Rayer, Snorkel's western regional sales manager, says, "CSL has been doing a really great job for us, promoting Snorkel to independent, family-owned rental stores across Alberta and beyond. The new facility is in a prime location and will undoubtedly help them further grow Snorkel sales as the company continues to expand."
Snorkel has its North American headquarters in Elwood, Kansas.
