Cargotec's technology and competence centre in Tampere, Finland has received a BREEAM certification.
The Tampere centre was the first office building in the city and only the eighth building in Finland to receive the BREEAM final certification. The level of the certification it received last month is "good".
BREEAM is a global standard for best practice in sustainable building design, construction and operation. BREEAM has become one of the most comprehensive and widely recognised measures of a building's environmental performance.
"We are proud to have achieved such an esteemed acknowledgement for the new building," says Kauko Autio, director of real estate and safety at Cargotec Finland. "It was especially pleasing to note that our procedures for health and well-being, energy efficiency and waste management received the highest scores."
"Compared to Finnish requirements for new buildings, the energy efficiency of our new centre is over 25% better than average," she adds.
The technology and competence centre in Tampere was opened in December 2012. At the centre, Cargotec's Kalmar business area focuses on the development of energy-efficient, safe and intelligent machinery and automation solutions.
