Cat extends Li-ion options
Almere, NetherlandsCat Lift Trucks has introduced the option of lithium-ion batteries on its EP25-
35(C)N 80V electric counterbalance forklift range.
The move is part of a scheduled program to make Li-ion technology available on specific Cat trucks, as soon as it becomes genuinely cost-effective for those products. To date, it has been applied optionally to a variety of Cat order pickers, pallet trucks, stackers and tow trucks, as well as 48 V counterbalance models.
Cat notes that the new battery solution is "especially likely to make economic and practical sense in high-energy, multi-shift, 24/7 operations".

Toyota upgrades joystick
Columbus, IN, United StatesToyota Material Handling has introduced the Toyota EZ Control Joystick, the company's latest innovation designed to reduce operator fatigue and optimise productivity. The new ergonomic option is being offered on all core IC, mid IC, large IC, core electric, and three-wheel electric forklifts.
Toyota says the EZ Control Joystick offers forklift operators a convenient way to operate their equipment and approach even the most difficult materials handling challenges with precision and ease. The durable ISO-style joystick is similar to those used in construction and agricultural equipment. Its multi-function capabilities enable forklift operators to minimise downtime and increase productivity by allowing them to control all necessary functions outside of braking and travel.
"Our goal at Toyota is to constantly work to develop innovative and creative solutions," says Tony Miller, TMH senior vice president of operations and engineering. "The Toyota EZ Control Joystick epitomises that goal by raising the bar in comfort and functionality for our forklifts. Our customers expect reliable, performance-enhancing solutions to their evolving challenges."
