Raymond receives Toyota honour
Greene, NY, United StatesThe Raymond Corporation has received the President's Award, the highest honour from Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO), in recognition of Raymond's exceptional achievements and contribution to Global Quality Improvement Activity for Raymond's paint improvement project at its headquarters and manufacturing plant in Greene, New York.
The activity was championed by Toyota Material Handling Group (TMHG) to ensure the four direct influencers of efficient manufacturing are optimised - man, material, machine and methods. After implementation, Raymond showed significant improvement in its paint process quality.
"Raymond team members successfully embraced the new tools, and their collaboration was an integral part of the process," says Michael Field, president and CEO of The Raymond Corporation. "This is a significant accomplishment for our team. We are honoured to receive this prestigious award."
Raymond was one of five companies honoured by Toyota.
ICHCA and FEPORT collaborate
Barcelona, SpainICHCA International, the global cargo handling NGO association, has agreed to work with the Federation of European Private Port Operators (FEPORT) on matters of mutual interest. The two associations will sign a formal Memorandum of Understanding on Mar 1 2016 at the ICHCA International 2016 Conference in Barcelona, Spain.
Founded in 1993 and located in Brussels, FEPORT speaks on behalf of terminal operators and stevedoring companies carrying out activities in the seaports of the European Union and Turkey. Its members include over 1,200 companies with over 400 ports located throughout the EU and Turkey. The Federation promotes the interests of its members by maintaining regular dialogue with all EU institutional and non-institutional stakeholders.
Established in 1952, ICHCA International is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the safety and productivity of cargo handling and movement worldwide. ICHCA represents its members, and the cargo handling industry at large, in front of national and international agencies and regulatory bodies, while its ISP Technical Panel provides best practice advice and develops publications on a wide range of practical cargo handling issues.
TVH celebrates National Mentor Month
Olathe, KS, United StatesTVH in the Americas (TVH) will be celebrating National Mentor Month this month. TVH launched a pilot mentor program at its Olathe location in February 2015. The program began with 18 mentors and 18 mentees who ventured on a year-long journey of sharing knowledge and experiences.
The goal of mentoring is to provide a framework where relationships can be developed between experienced TVH employees and new or in-place employees to enhance personal and professional development within the organisation. The main objectives of the mentoring program are: skills enhancement, career development, leadership and management development, organisational development and culture change, and staff retention.
The program is thriving and has grown to include 60 participants at TVH locations in the Americas. Participation is expected to increase in 2016 as awareness and enthusiasm about the program increase.
