MEP visits Haulotte
Brussels, Belgium

Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Françoise Grossetête recently visited French manufacturer Haulotte Group, located in her constituency in L'Horme. She was the third MEP to visit a local manufacturer organised by FEM as part of its Mapping Initiative.
Grossetête heard from her Haulotte hosts about the practical impact of technical regulatory requirements on their R&D. This was notably highlighted in demonstrating the evolution of engines and their components in the different stages imposed by the legislation on exhaust emissions from non-road mobile machinery. Each stage posed an increasing R&D challenge to incorporate the engine in the machine.
"European legislation should not punish companies but should encourage them to innovate whilst preserving their competitiveness. Thanks to this visit, I could see the concrete impact of texts discussed in Brussels and this will help me in my daily parliamentary work," Grossetête commented.

IPAF steps up safety campaign
Cumbria, United Kingdom

IPAF has stepped up its safety campaign for aerial work platforms (AWPs) with the help of mascot Andy Access.
The organisation is calling on contractors, end-users and rental companies to download free poster artwork for use in their daily operations. The posters feature the characters Andy Access and Hugh Hazard.
Three posters are featured in the launch and new posters will be released every few months - each with a specific safety message on how to use AWPs correctly.
Andy Access posters are available in several languages and artwork can be downloaded from www.ipaf.org/andyaccess
