Doosan holds inaugural event for 10,000 employees
Seoul, South KoreaAbout 10,000 executives and employees from 13 countries participated in Doosan's inaugural Day of Community Service on 24 October.
The event saw Doosan staff volunteer to work with local communities in a range of projects, including road repairs, environmental clean-up, food donations, blood drives and assistance for rural villages.
Employees from 130 sites in 13 countries participated in the event.
Doosan has carried out similar programs in individual countries but this was the first time it held a global simultaneous event, with 173 programs taking place worldwide.
In the US, Bobcat equipment was used to repair roads and school grounds, while in the Czech Republic, a charity event raised funds to buy wheelchairs for the disabled. In Brazil, Doosan employees visited kindergartens, painting walls and repairing facilities.
Toyota scoops design award
Brussels, BelgiumThe Toyota Tonero 3.5-8.0 T engine forklift has received the German Design Award Special Mention for 2015.
Julia Kostial from the German Design Council that gives out the awards says while no forklift companies were recognised last year, this year's recipients also include Crown Equipment's QuickPick remote, which is claimed to be the world's first semi-automated order picker of its kind and the Toyota BT Movit N-series tow tractor. In 2010, the German Design Award jury nominated the Traigo 48 and BT Levio for the award.
The award ceremony will take place on 13 February 2015 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Magog, CanadaCamoplast Solideal has received the International Commerce Award during the 2014 Desjardins Entrepreneurs Awards gala. The company was honoured for being a model of entrepreneurship and international commerce.
"It was with great pride that I accepted the International Commercial Award in Lévis on behalf of all Camoplast Solideal employees," said CEO Pierre Marcouiller. "The award has a particular significance because it acknowledges the strong work ethic and the empowerment that drives each of our employees. It is through their accomplishments that Camoplast Solideal was able to establish its leadership in the off-the-road market."
The Québec-based company designs, tests, manufactures and markets its own tyres, tracks and track systems. From its Magog headquarters, Camoplast Solideal manages its worldwide operations, which include four R&D centres, 20 manufacturing facilities and fully owned direct distribution centres in 24 countries. Camoplast Solideal employs over 7,500 employees worldwide.
