Exide adds lithium battery
Milton, GA, United States Exide's GNB Sonnenschein battery, |
Exide Technologies has unveiled its new GNB Sonnenschein Lithium Material Handling Battery, optimised for the challenges of the modern warehouse environment. It has also introduced its new cloud-based fleet management software, GNB Fleet, which optimises fleet uptime, maximises efficiency and reduces total cost of ownership.
The Sonnenschein Lithium Material Handling Battery is specially designed to minimise total cost of ownership in materials handling applications. Switching from a lead battery to the Material Handling Battery may yield savings of up to EUR1.125 million (USD1.22 million) over the battery's lifetime for an average-sized fleet of 25 forklifts.
Exide's new cloud-based software, GNB Fleet, meanwhile, provides real-time data on all batteries connected to its chargers. Simple, traffic light-style reports enable energy consumption and productivity to be optimised. The software also notifies users immediately of any issues in the fleet using state-of-health information, allowing corrective action to be taken before uptime is affected. Preventative maintenance can also be scheduled automatically.
"The new Sonnenschein Lithium Material Handling Battery allows businesses to make significant savings, improve efficiency and leverage the existing on-board display," says Magnus Ohlsson, business director, GNB Motive Power. "We provide the right combination of high-performance battery, charger technology, fleet management and professional service to minimise total cost of ownership for your business."

Hoppecke long life certified
Newcastle-Under-Lyme, United KingdomHoppecke Industrial Batteries has announced that its innovative trak | uplift product has been certified by DNV GL to have a cycle life of 1,700 cycles - compared to the standard 1,500 cycles of most lead-acid type batteries.
DNV GL is one of the world's leading independent certification bodies.
Hoppecke's vented lead-acid batteries were introduced into the UK market last year and provide the ideal solution for busy single-shift operations. While Hoppecke was always confident about claiming the longer cycle life, this certification means that the battery company's own quality standards have been reinforced by a prestigious, independent expert in quality assurance.
Stuart Browne, operations director - sales and service at Hoppecke UK, says: "We are delighted that a worldwide independent certification company has confirmed that Hoppecke batteries have an increased life compared to conventional batteries."
The trak | uplift is a universal, high quality, low-cost solution designed to keep a wide range of equipment operating at peak performance. Hoppecke can now guarantee these batteries have an increased operational life and this means it has full confidence in offering extended warranties. The cycle life of 1,700 cycles, compared to the standard 1,500 cycles of most lead-acid type batteries, is a 13% increase and means that Hoppecke trak | uplift batteries last longer in end-user applications.
