A US Army command has contracted with small-business Dynamik Inc for the leasing of an unspecified number of rough-terrain forklifts for use at Fort Irwin.

The request describes the need for variable reach forklifts with lifting capacities of 10,000 lb (4,500 kg) and numerous other forklifts with capacities to lift 30,000 lb (13,500 kg).

The value of the short-term contract is USD22,449, according to an announcement from an Army official.

"The equipment must withstand the rough, high desert terrain of Fort Irwin," the solicitation says. Fort Irwin conditions may include wind gusts of 70 miles per hour (112 km).

Fort Irwin and the associated National Training Center are located in the Mojave Desert in northern San Bernardino County and serve as a premier training area for the Army.

Dynamik of San Diego, California was formed in 2002 as a distributor of electronics, construction materials and products and supplier of rental equipment. Kayla Rodgers, Dynamik president and chief executive officer, heads the company as a strategic supplier to the US government and government contractors.

Among its attributes, Dynamik is a woman-owned, disabled-veteran and disadvantaged business enterprise.
