The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) has announced the finalists in the 15th FLTA Annual Awards for Excellence 2009.

David Ellison, chief executive of FLTA, says the awards have attracted a record number of entries. "The nominations committee has shortlisted no fewer than 25 finalists as its pick of the year's best products and services.

"Each has made a significant contribution in raising standards in the materials handling industry. Nowhere is the competition fiercer than in the four categories chosen by the public - Environment, Ergonomics, Safety and Innovation."

Voting for Awards 2009 is now open and can be done online or by postal ballot. Votes must be received by Friday 30 January, 2009.

Ellison says the awards are an effective way of rewarding and encouraging those who strive for higher standards in the materials handling industry. "Everyone whose work involves materials handling or forklifts stands to benefit from that constant improvement.

"To ensure the most deserving products and services win the awards, it's essential that the vote should truly reflect the opinions of those who work in the industry - and for that to happen we need a good 'voter turnout'."

Winners will be announced at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel on Valentine's Day 2009.
