US producer of autonomous driving software, Cyngn, has added North American integrated equipment dealership, Alta Equipment Group, to its expanding dealer network.
Alta, which boasts more than USD1 billion in annual sales, will sell Cyngn’s autonomous DriveMod Tugger which combines Cyngn’s autonomous vehicle technology with Motrec’s MT-160 tow tractor.
Marc Breton, Motrec vice president of sales, knows of “several customers who would greatly benefit from the DriveMod Tugger”.
“Cyngn chief executive officer Lior Tal notes that Alta has “an impressive record of sales, and we are thrilled to have Cyngn’s autonomous vehicles included in their catalog”.
“With their extensive dealer coverage across North America, we are excited to equip Alta with the tools and training needed to offer our self-driving industrial vehicles to their customers,” he continues. “Their success is integral to our success.”
Alta operates equipment dealership branches in 85 locations across Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, New York, Virginia, Nevada and Florida and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec
The Alta announcement follows a significant year for Cyngn in 2023 when it launched its dealer network and a partnership with Chinese electric vehicle maker, BYD, to adapt its DriveMod technology to automate forklifts.
The DriveMod-enabled forklift has a capacity of 10,000 lb. (4.5 T) and uses proprietary AI to detect and analyse pallet dimensions and stack multiple units autonomously.
Cyngn has continued to grow the footprint for its autonomous driving software, having inked a deal in 2022 to partner with Greenland Forklifts to expand the self-driving capabilities of some of its fleet.
