The American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) sprang into action in the wake of Hurricane Beryl that made landfall in Texas last week, bringing devastating winds, floods and power outages.
ALAN had foreshadowed an “extremely actively” Atlantic hurricane season this year and before the first named hurricane of the season hit the aid organisation had contacted business, government and non-profit partners in the Caribbean, Mexico and along the Gulf Coast of the United States to assess their readiness and any anticipated needs for logistics support.
Beryl was the earliest category 5 Atlantic hurricane on record.
ALAN executive director Kathy Fulton called for anyone in the materials handling sector able to offer transport, warehousing, equipment or expertise to get in touch.
“We’ll share any unmatched requests in our situation snapshot on our disaster micro-site, where you can always see the latest in logistics needs,” Fulton said.
“We also want to ensure you have all of the information you need to protect your organisations and employees. We encourage you to log in to or request registration to ALAN’s free Supply Chain Intelligence Centre.”
