Discussion:
wont pass start up test

My Stock picker will not get past the start up test. I key it on and it will wrench out on me giving me a 208 code. During the start up sequence the K5 relay will kick in and out drastically. It almost sounds like teeth chattering or a typewriter. It will do that and then wrench out.

I have swapped parts with another truck that I know was working. I swapped out distribution board, traction control card, display, K5 relay, steering module, wire harness for steer module, and steer motor. Nothing would work. but all parts taken off the bad truck I used on the good truck and they all worked fine.

I am at a loss here. Any ideas?

thanks,

What did you do to get it to pass self test for those few days? When it was driving did it plug or brake a lot harder in one direction than the other? Fault 208 is all about the steering wiggling to make sure everything works and the encoder seeing it wiggle.

yeah I checked this and it was good. But for good measure I swapped it out with a new one I had. It still did not make a difference. I got it to pass the start up test and everything was fine for a few days then it started doing it again. So now I am at a loss. I have put many hours of troubleshooting and parts into this thing and nothing is going my way. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is going on.

I did have someone tell me that I need to recalibrate the index position on the feedback encoder. Bad thing is I do not have a service terminal. So I guess I will have to get one or figure out another solution.

Did you remove and check the 30amp fuse for steer circuit? You can not check it in circuit.
