sometimes when I start this lift it will not move for/rev everything else works. Temp is a factor. if the temp is cool 40degrees or less it will not move, if the temp is 80 or so it works 97% of the time.
Seems to be related to ambient air temp.

I looked through every reach truck, RR5000 through the RM6000....there is no code 309
good morning sr can you help me my crown series 5200 dont move at all and it show a code 309 but i dont know whats the problem
208 means the module did not see it move. Could be encoder or steer module. If encoder you will usually be able tell by watching it on handset if it is module the only way to tell is by swapping it out with known good one

Steering motor tries to go back and forth. However it does not move very far. Armature moves 1/2" both ways is about it.
So that means the K5 is supplying the steer module, but it ends there. Remove the brush cover, power it up and see if the motor cycles back and forth

For some reason I keep thinking it's electrical. But I'm not a tech on these dudes. Handy, but not with this deal. I did watch to see if the steering wheel moves at startup and it does not.
If they changed the upper steer bearing, I've never seen the bearings disappear... only the webing in between the **** gets chewed up. The **** collect on one side and wedge the steering. I wish I could put my hands on it... I'm in Pennsylvania
Ok I took this unit to Lift Solutions in Grand Island, NE (Crown Dealer) They looked it over for roughly 13 hours and decided to change the bearings in the steering drive. I did see the one main bearing they took out and it was missing 1/3 of the ****. I brought the unit home and when I went to start it to move it off the trailer it won't move and displays the wrench. The code is again 208. I talked to the tech and he's going to check with superiors to try and figure out what to do from here. ANY IDEAS out there??
To crown the term gate does not mean the switch it is a simple term for a open circuit, could be the switch but in most cases no.
Swap (move them both to the others spot) the 2 big relays on the distribution board also check the contact behind the cover above the steer module.
When you power up the truck, does the drive unit rock back and forth? If not, then the K5 tips are dirty....(or the floor is preventing it from rocking). But 90% of the time, this code comes from the distribution board connectors. Unplug them all, and plug them back in....that's all you have to do. Crown just released a new replacement connector for those 9 pin mast cable connectors
K5 relay is the big relay that supplies power for steering. I am talking about the relays on the dist. board that energize with the key switch and gate switches. You also may want to look at the brake module lights behind the drive motor because if it faults you get a gate fault also.
Hello Bosco, I checked one Crown manual were said for SP3200 series 208 and 209 are related with steering. I could suggest to check from steering motor ( sometimes the brushes are stuck and when temperature decrease make bad contact with the commutator) check k5 contactor tips and steering controller and connectors. last week I checked one SP and was loose the connection with controller.
The gate switches check out ok and the arms are down. The code it gives is 208 or 209. I don't remember which. But it is the code that might indicate the k5 relay and a couple other things that check ok. Ambient temp is a key. 80 degrees it works fine. 40 degrees it fails 95% of the time.
The gate is when it thinks the gates are up and you are trying to travel and it will not let you. If moving the gates does not help it could be one of the relays on the distribution board. If it is wrench then you need to use the rocker button to see what the fault code is then we can go from there.
