Yale GLP050REJUAE086:
will not start and has weak spark

Hello I am in need of some help with my older Yale forklift that will not start Model number is GLP 050REJUA086
Serial number does not come up in computer but on identity plate is CH0045

It started out working fine then would randomly die. Progressed to only running for 10sec or so. Would restart right away but die again.
Now it will not start.

Weak spark to all cylinders and from the coil lead.

The fuel regulators have both been changed and appears to be getting propane.

Replaced the following
Cap and Rotor
Coil
Ignition switch
Spark plugs

Tested coil high tension lead and the cylinder leads and ok

12.8 volts from battery
engine block appears to be well grounded as tested at alternator, starter and ignition switch

didnt replace the ignition module because engine had some spark.

I am stumped on what next to do.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mitch

I replaced the ignition module (actually called igniter) and it fired right up.

Thanks for responding.

I have been in touch with the local Hyster/Yale dealer. They think it is most likely an F2 engine but not confirmed. They just got back to me with a price of $120 for the module. I will pick one up and give it a go.

You need to check with a Yale dealer. List on the distributor module is $69.00.

I believe all the RE trucks used the FE engine.

Thanks for responding. This has been a real struggle.

The spark is barely visible between the electrodes on spark plug. It would not jump a 3/8" gap pale blue to yellow in color and no snap at all.

since I have replaced the other ignition parts I should try the module. Its pretty pricey the local automotive store here wants $225. Will try a few of the forklift suppliers.

Its been difficult confirming the actual engine in this forklift since the serial number is not good. There were 3 mazda options the D5, FE and F2 which were listed on the engine cover under the seat. Do you have any suggestions on how to confirm?

How do you determine it has a weak spark? Will it jump a 3/8" gap? Is it yellow and not blue? Can you hear it snap? The module can do funny things when failing, and they do fail.
