I am looking at a used Crown SX3000-30 Pallet Stacker. It's a 2008 model that was purchased by and used at a VA Medical Center. It appears it has been sitting outside on the dock and has been covered in plastic. The forks, legs, chain etc. shows some surface rust. The batteries are shot. New batteries are $2,000. I can't ascertain whether it is a running unit with bad batteries. Is it work $1,800? the body seems to be in good shape just the, I'll say working parts of the lift. I haven't figured out a way to upload a photo or I would do that.

Well if you run across an SX3000-30 with a 73" mast, let me know. I'm having a hard time finding a 73" mast.
I seriously doubt that there are any road techs that would have a 24 volt battery pack in their service truck. I would not recommend buying it. Any truck that sits out and is exposed to the elements for a long period of time and is not serviced or used is nothing but a liability. Something to remember, cheaper isn't always better.
If there is a working electric pallet jack that is 24 volts you could make an extension battery cable to connect from good battery pack to the stacker
I know I can't test it with the batteries dead as stated in my post. I don't know if I can get a Crown tech to meet me there with a battery and test. If it's been wrapped up on a loading dock where there is any overhang it shouldn't be that big a deal.
Very bad decision to leave an electric forklift outside.
I would not buy it.
Since the batteries are dead, you have no way of testing any of the functions.
