Wow Tony, too strange..... I am a trainer in the US, (my name is Tony as well) & I wasted going to go by "TonytheTrainer" when I started my business. I had something "come over me" in regards to my tremendous faith. My biz is now called NO DOUBT Safety Services, which also reflects my confidence level as an Instructor!

As the forklift licence falls under the 'high risk' category of the legislation, a trainer must have their (Australian) Certificate 4 in Training and Education (Cert IV TAE), and then be with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) who is approved to train/assess the forklift licence

id like to add a further question on this topic (5 years later i know)
but i am an instructor in the UK, namely through RTITB and ITSSAR. am i to assume that these qualifications are also not recognised and if so how would i go about converting them to australian qualifications?

Hi, paddy, thanks for the reply. I did find out from the link posted my joseph h that Australia do not recognise cert's gained outside Australia as you stated - also applies to plant and machinery. One of my clients was hoping to use his UK qualification there and Ive now told him what he has to do. Many thanks for the replies

Hi Max

No forklift certificates gained outside australia are valid in australia.
you can gain RPL for your experience but will have to take a written and practical test.
you will have to contact a registered training organisation who will advise you further

MaxaM60:

The National Registered Assessors Association - Australia should be able to answer your question.

King ?? lol yes but Australia is still a Commonwealth country. The question being will Australian H&S accept a UK Cetrificate as proof of adequate basic training.

Certainly would not think so. The King no longer has control of the country from down under & they are governed by their own laws.
