Transmission cutting in and out

Transmission will stop engaging into forward or reverse and then "catch" as if it is finally able to find the fluid. the pump sounds like it might be getting air, fluid level is full. I have changed the transmission fluid using (Dextron atl fluid).

Nero,
I found a inline filter on the suction side of the pump that was plugged up, I cleaned the filter and problem solved!!

I don't know this truck or transmission but it sounds to me like the sump take up filter might be blocked. On Yale trucks it may be located at the back of the transmission under a plate and gasket removing the plate you should be able to pull the filter and clean it. I'm just going of what I have experienced when I worked on trucks. It sounds like the pump is being starved of oil.
