Discussion:
Trans Trouble

I am working on a Clark C50Bwith a Hydratork. Trans was very slow to engage in gear. Had to rev the engine to the moon for it to move forward or reverse. Once moving, lift was quicker to respond in gear. Replaced converter charging pump, drained oil pan, cleaned screen, installed new spin on trans filter & disconnected inching spool. Made sure parking brake was not dragging. Tires spin freely. Diff full of trans fluid. Disconnected gear selector linkage to make sure fully engaging in gear. Now lift doesn't move forward or reverse at all, no matter how high I rev the engine. What did I miss?

I pulled the pin out from the arm that connects to the inching cylinder, operated it by hand. Also, I pulled the trans cooler line from the trans & pump would not pump oil. For some reason, the trans pump will not make pressure. I pumped oil through the oil cooler lines to try and prime the pump. That did not work either. Removed inching cylinder spool, checked all 3 springs. They were fine. I am out of tricks.

How did you disconnect the inching? The lever on the trans has to be pulled by the springs in the inching cylinder to engage the trans. The springs have to be in good shape and the pin that connects to the lever must be installed.
