Discussion:
Toyota 7FBRE 14 Slow traction

Can anyone shed some light on an issue i am having on a toyota reach (same as the BT), it uses the Danahar motion AC controller and curtis pump controller.

The truck drives very slow but no error codes appear on the display. During tests at one point the truck began to drive fast as it should when at full throttle, then after a while it began to drive slow again. It very intermittently would drive after resetting the key.

I have tried another foot controller assembly but made no difference. Removed the magnetic brake off the motor also incase brake was binding, but made no difference.

Any body have any pointers, perhaps a speed limit switch or something of that nature playing up??

There is a filter kit available from Toyota to eliminate the sensor failure. Also we made a fix that you can do without dismantling the truck.

ok. mok e
have reason, we call speed sensor, since this is his job, but he is just an encoder, provides the signal to the control unit that the engine is running. is how we say it is the messenger, a hug

For my own experienced this problem cause by an accelerator potentiometer......no code, travels fast at in the middle it runs slow.

don't bite the hands that feed you!
normally it is the top bearing (speed sensor) at the drive motor. There is no error code in case of failure.

Just an update on this one.

The truck began working again a few days ago normal speed. Could an encoder play up intermittently? Is this known to happen often?

Hi John

Initially we thought it may be related to a sensor on the mast which may reduce the speed of the vehicle, but no longer think this may be the case as the other working trucks have the same sensor, but it does not seem to do anything no matter what level the mast is at ( it could be the other trucks even though they are driving as such might have a mast sensor which is faulty in the sense will not reduce the speed)

We are at present going with the encoder bearings as there seems to be plenty of rust around the motor area and its possible internally could have affected the encoder section.

I would have thought that the motor temperature sensors would have thrown up an error code or atleast a light on the dash hence have not looked at that option.

Do you know if there is an encoder problem, would it not throw up an error?

Hello there

Did you look ore the switch of height all good function
And did you look ore the brakes in the front are oke !!
Ore the temp sensor off the motor are not oke Must be 550 Ohm by 20 degr. when he defect mount one one the outside 670 Ohm with 20 degr speed going down End sensor bearing off the motor !!

Regards

John.
