Discussion:
Toyota 02-7FGF35 Will not rev up..............

................we have a flashing light on the right hand side of the dash (flashes ten times and looks like a picture of a piston cranking over?)

The truck will tick over no problem at all but after about 20 seconds this light comes on and the truck will not rev up at all - any ideas?

It's got the Vortec V6 engine in if that's any help and it's a 2001 model?

It's funny you should mention this as the customer has just informed me today that he's had his regular forklift Co to look at this last week, they fitted a new battery and two days later it was flat.
He called them back out and they said the alternator had gone so they replaced that.
Next day he called them up to explain it would not rev up but they did not send anyone out to look at it. The very same day our sales rep arrived on site and dropped in a business card, they called us in, that's the story so far.

Looks like our first port of call may be the charging circuit then eh?

Thanks

alternator output problems. check all the inputs to the alt. one should be B+ all the time and the other two should be B+ with key on. if all inputs are good and alt is charging at output terminal but not getting to battery look very closely at 80 amp fusible link in fuse box and if that one is good remove fuse box and take the back off of it and inspect the lugs where the 80 is bolted in. if no problem exist at any of those places let me know. remember the large fusible link is bolted in and can not be removed without removing the back of the fuse panel.

easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission.
Ten flashes, no error log on the digital display.

Sorry, should of mentioned that it rev's up fine for the first 20 seconds or so, then the flashing light comes on the dash board and then the truck will no longer rev up.

count the flashes when the fault occurs. it sounds like the throttle full closed and full open switches might be at fault. the little recycled beer can tab that makes up the switch when the throttle closes gets bent. this is hard to explain but here goes.... the bracket that moves when the stepper motor is active has a little tab welded to it that actuates the switch at full idle (the one with the bellows) that tab has two angles...at the weld then at the switch and the two should equal 90 degrees 45 then 45. when you look its probably bent at a right angle at the weld. bend it back into place and try it again. there's a lot more to this adj but its too much for my fat incomplete fingers to type.

At this point there should be an error code scrolling on the digital hourmeter display on the dash. What does it say?

Fact of the week
The use of "hello" as a telephone greeting is attributed to Thomas Edison. He is said to have suggested it as a simpler alternative to other greetings, such as "Do I get you?" or "Are you there?".
