I am just interested on as a whole do you Engineers like the concept of through the night deliveries to your vans. Also do any of you feel it would benefit you but your Company hasn't put it in place.

I ressisted having through the night deliveries to my house thinking it would desturb the niegbours, but I had to accept them in the end, deliveries came between 6.30 and 7.00 am, never heard a thing. it was deffinetly a no one complained plus, Yes sometimes you found that you had so many boxes you could not get in the van and some times you endded up with another engineers parts but all in all the sistem worked well.

I found it was to much noise, [I live in a culdesac and the vans had reversing alarms on, at 3 am]
Then one morning I came out to find my van loaded up with so may boxs I was over weight.
Now I pick up at a werehouse 2 miles down the road.

I found it too intrusive to have parts deliveries to my home in the early hours, disturbed my family and neighbours. Ended up leaving the company as this and other changes they introduced encroached into my home life far too much.

My company have used night deliveries for some time now and it does benefit the customer but there are many downsides for the engineer, noise in the night, van alarms going off, upset neighbours and damage/spillages to the van to name but a few.
