Discussion:
Economy 3000 scissor lift

I recently purchased an older Economy 3000 scissor lift Model 2046
I think it was built around 1980.
I'm having trouble finding a manual for it, if anyone happens to have one I would like to purchase a copy.
Can't find anything on the internet.
Thanks Bill

KBConstruction,
if you look page 1-7 (figure 1-8) that is the standard operators control console.
no joystick
Now if you go down one page to page 1-8 (figure 1-9) that is the Optional Operators Control Console, it has a joystick.
So you have the optional console if it indeed has one.

Thanks I'll try that when I have time. I don't know what you were reading but this unit does have a joy stick. Yes i do have an electrical and mechanical background just not a lot of experience with lifts. It does save time to ask questions from someone that happens to have experience, the electrical world is very vast and one can never stop learning.

One of the easiest thing's to do is swap the right and left wires on the valve. If the problem switches sides then it's electrical. Usually the Microswitch in the controller goes out, but since u have no controller and only toggles, I would say it's in the canon plug or cable.

yeah, i actually took some time and went through this manual and of course it is not going to be like other machines you normally see like JLG or Genie or skyjack.
Apparently the standard operating console does not have a joystick, that is an optional control which i find odd. But never the less troubleshooting goes the same.
If he has any hydraulic/electrical skill at all he should be able to figure this out.
If he does not?
He shouldn't be working on this period.

KBConstruction,
if you have right turn but no left turn i would first check the circuit in the joystick steering switch, then go to the hydraulic control valve solenoid that controls the steering, it should be a 2 way valve with 2 solenoids mounted on it.
make sure both solenoids are good and the signal is getting to the solenoid when you select the left turn on the joystick.
The problem could be in the joystick, the harness from the platform control to the ground somewhere in it, or something at the solenoids.
If your getting actuation electrically then it could be a bad valve. You can pull it out and check the orings on it to see if any are broken/cut.
The manual should show you which valve is which and also should be able to help you with the joystick too. BTW, which one did you download?
It will require some reading though ;o)

Found the manual at Snorkel web site. I could use some troubleshooting help.
Installed 4 new batteries and re-lugged all the battery terminals. Did some much needed cleaning. Everything works now except turning left.

KB_Construction,
can we assume this is an Snorkel/Economy 3000 Model 2046 scissorlift?
you can find their manual on snorkel's website
i'm looking at one right now, but need to have a serial number to get the correct manual but that shouldn't be too hard to find.
