Discussion:
California EPA aftermarket products

Hi All
I have a customer who has had their trucks tested and have found that they will not pass the California EPA standards set for 2009.
Has anyone else run into this yet? I have heard through the grapevine that there are two companies, Net Tech and Terminox that may have systems that can be installed to the carburation to meet the set standards. Has anyone dealt with these companies or know of any other companies that are offering "smog control" systems for lifts?

Toyota does make a really nice truck, there's no doubt about that. But a new machine rated at 0.8 Grams will cost you $30,000.00, while a kit to bring an older machine down to 1.0 Grams will cost you less that $3000.00 installed. In the current economic climate which will you choose?

And no, it's not a band aid. We proved system durability on a test that was actually more stringent than the testing that a new engine goes through to be certified by the ARB, which included both in-use and laboratory testing.

I have a customer in california that spent a ton of money trying to get his trucks clean. It is a band aid to install aftermarket emissions replace the unit with a teir 3 compliant lift.
Toyota makes a Bullet proof truck with a very low emissions foot print GOOD LUCK!

Well, we are one of those companies.

I'm really not certain what you are asking. First, there is no "testing" requirement in the regulation for forklift users. Second, the standard is a FLEET AVERAGE - individual machines don't have to meet a standard, the fleet does. Third, yes we do have a kit that can be installed, there are limitations to the machines it can be installed on however (for example the engine has to be in good operating order).

And yes, I know this response is a bit late - I don't watch the ForkliftAction forums.
