Looking for info on controller box

I have a Drexel SLT30 that has a failed controller box and was told they cannot fix it. Are there any options available to either replace the box or bypass the controller and run power directly to the lift motor. The lift motor and drive motor work fine. This forklift is one of the best forklifts and most versatile and I would like to get it fixed. I was informed that the newer versions of this forklift do not even use the controller box.....is this correct? Any assistance would be helpful.
