Hello all, I have a customer that has air conditioned their large warehouse. Since then, they are getting employee complaints about propane smell. Their older Yale forklift is still equipped with a gasoline carb and an Impco mixer in the air cleaner hose that at one time provided a dual fuel machine. I feel that converting to a true Impco LP carb would help lean the exhaust, but the customer has also asked if I can test the emissions before and after the repair to see any improvement. I've had no luck borrowing one, and don't want to break the bank on such a limited need. Can anyone suggest a low cost tester?

Great advice. Will look into
When I worked for a lift truck dealer in Atlanta - we used to use Atlanta Gas to help us w/ tail pipe emission testing and they would provide a print out of results. Of course, it was done at no charge as we were a customer & it was done based on their schedule but they would do it for a nominal fee for a non customer. You might check with you local gas company.
Tailpipe emission are very big right now with the new laws. Unfortunately for us the days of making adjustments to improve tailpipe emissions are probably over. All new forklifts are not adjustable other than if you are crafty enough with the proper software and the proper high level passwords. The days of tailpipe emission tests being profitable are in the past.
Did the search and found the info. Thanks....Yes- I'm sure they have the money also to replace with electric- I'm just not sure I need to spend thou$$ands to prove that for them.
Do you guys think that this will become a necessary/ useful tool in the future??
You have to wonder why if a customer can afford to air condition a huge warehouse why they would still be running a carbureted LP gas truck?
That said there is a handheld CO tester that the fire department uses, they stand several feet behind the truck and take readings. Not totally accurate but could be effective for your use. I have seen these for $150.00 I can't remember where.
If you key this into the search box at the top of the page you will find another thread regarding this. carbon monoxide kit ?
