Discussion:
BT reach And Atlet Reach

HI there

I have a controller off an BT reach its an Atlas Copco Motion controller AC, which has an intermittant fault.

I have the same or similar controller off an Atlet reach that is working fine. Does anybody know if i can drop this on the BT reach truck? As these controllers are interchangable for hydraulics traction etc, can they be interchanged on other trucks?

Check / change the traction fuse, a burnt fuse is enough to cause the truck to spit its dummy out, had this plenty of times over the years.

If the fuse looks burnt replace it even if it tests ok with a multimeter, there are normally spare fuses inside the truck in a little bag unless they have been pinched.

HI there

Thank you for all the input. I think i will hold onto the controller and get it tested on a BT truck first. I am not sure the nature of the fault except the customer has identified the traction controller to be faulty 'intermittently'. I have stripped the unit down and tested it at component level and cannot really find anything which is unusual. Not sure exact nature of the fault, we are still waiting to find out further details.

What faults are you having with the traction panel then?

Only time ive ever replaced one of these is after the apprentice blew it up changing the 160 amp fuse.

Dropping a spanner over all 5 terminals isnt a good idea, them capacitors discharge very quickly, never seen anyone move so quickly ha ha

If you are still stuck you could try these guys gbforklifts (dot) co (dot) uk they are very helpful, they gave me free advice and in the end we used them to get hold of parts and to fix our truck, they did an excellent job and were very competitive.

I would be careful in swapping between atlet and bt unless the atlas part numbers are the same, more details to the nature of the fault would be good,on a bt there are 2units the same for hyds and traction, they can be swapped over as the hyds do not use the same functions as the traction, was the controller for traction or hyds??

It was a controller sent in for repairs. The customer identified this controller as faulty and sent it to me.

Will find out more about the nature of the fault.
