Discussion:
water in the hydraulic tank

Does anyone know a good way to get all the water out of a hydraulic system, other than draining and replacing fluid many times over

An air operated pump cuts down on the time a lot, just pump the oil out; when you are ready to refill reverse the pump, pump about a gallon of new to clear the pump and lines and then proceed to refill.

Thank you, I guess filling 1/2 way will save some oil, but I think this is going to be a long process

That's the only way I know of, try draining and refilling but only half full, cycle the hyd's several times and repeat at least two more times or until the fluid appears clear. You can take one step further and sample the fluid after it clears up.
