Dead Continental F163 "Flathead 4" engine

Hi can someone help with the best engine to replace the one i have with?
the timing seems to keep skipping , plus almost no comp in 2nd cylinder.
Anyone know of an easy conversion?

Or is my only option reco existing engine

Any help is appreciated

i agree with mark l, plumber you'll find with these old girls its generally a head gasket thats gone, been a few years since ive seen one but 9 times out of ten they blow the head gasket between the cylinders.

Plumber, Is it smoking at all? Those little continental engines are pretty resiluant and relatively inexpensive to repalce. Before you go to the expense of a engine make sure you dont have a head gasket problem. Is compression down on just the one cylinder? Those little engines love to blow head gaskets between the cylinders and between the distributor hole which separates the 2 and 3 cylinders.
